How Many Miles Can a Subaru Impreza Last? Are They Reliable?

The Impreza is one of the most popular Subaru cars on the road today – but just how many miles can it go before it needs to be replaced?

The Subaru Impreza is a compact, affordable car that has been around for over two decades. It was first introduced in 1993 and has grown in popularity ever since. The newest model, which came out in 2015, comes with different engine options as well as standard all wheel drive.

So, how many miles can a Subaru Impreza last? It’s not uncommon for these cars to last up to 300,000 miles or more, though of course mileage varies depending on driving habits and maintenance schedules.

Is a Subaru Impreza a reliable car?

I believe that the Subaru Impreza is a very reliable car-though as with any other vehicle, it depends on how well you take care of it. If you have a good habit of changing your oil regularly and maintain your car, you’ll be able to get a lot more miles out of it than if you just forget about all maintenance.

Just make sure to change your oil every 3 months and use quality fuel. If you do these two things, I think it’s safe to say that your Subaru will last well over 300k miles.

I have a 2013 Subaru Impreza Sport, and since I purchased it back in September of 2014, I’ve only had to get my oil changed twice and had one repair done (to fix the air conditioning). Though if you ended up getting a model that had a turbocharger, I guess that would decrease the amount of miles you can get out of it. All in all though, if you’re looking for a car to last well over 100k-300k miles, I think the Subaru Impreza is an excellent choice.

A coworker of mine has a 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS, which is very similar to my 2013 model. The 2006 has over 265k miles on it right now and still runs like new! I’m sure the newer models are even more durable though.

What are the worst years for the Subaru Impreza?

The worst years for Subaru Impreza are 2007, 2008 and 2009. These are not the newest models of the Impreza and they have a lot of complaints with them. Maintenance is super important and if you would like to get more miles out of your Subaru, I’d recommend getting one from the 2000’s.

The best year for a Subaru Impreza is 2011 or newer. This is up until now, but it seems that they are improving every model year.

What are common problems with the Subaru Impreza?

There are some common problems with this vehicle and these include shifting problems, engine light issues, there’s a recall for the steering wheel that makes a popping sound when you turn and the gas tank is known to have caught fire.

Summary

It is important to know how many miles a Subaru Impreza can go before it needs to be replaced. The newer models seem more durable than the older ones, but there are still some common problems that you should watch out for.

You will want to change your oil regularly and maintain your car in order to get the most mileage out of it, and if all else fails, just buy one from 2000 or later!
